As Your Lordship is aware the amount originally fixed as the contribution of this Colony towards Imperial Defences was £55,625, which was in 1885 raised in accordance with the terms of the War Office letter of the 19th September, 1885, enclosed in Mr. Stanley's despatch No. 2 of the 5th of January, 1886, to £116,000.
3. From the accounts furnished by the Crown Agents for 1889 it appears that the total amount £116,000, including an outstanding account paid in the Colony this year, is exceeded by £112.9.4.
